Our school is a BLACK BELT SCHOOL meaning it’s our goal to guide every student to that level.
One of the most important ways we begin this journey is through courtesy and respect. We practice this by:
1. When students enter the school they should greet the person behind the counter with a “Hello Sir” or “Hello Ma’am”
2. We show respect to the school and instructors by “Bowing” when entering and leaving the workout area.
3. When you arrive please sit in the back of the room as not to disturb a class in session.
4. If you arrive late for class, please wait at the edge of the mat until the instructor acknowledges you and call you onto the workout area.
5. If the instructor is talking and wants you to have a seat he will announce the command “Lock It Up”. Students then sit legs crossed, hands on knees, back straight, chin up and eyes on the instructor.
6. You will notice that both students and instructors are referred to by their last names. This is just another way we practice courtesy and respect.
· STUDENTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE AT THEIR BEST BLACK BELT BEHAVIOR.
· PARENTS AND GUEST SHOULD TURN OFF OR PUT THEIR CELL PHONES ON
VIBRATE SO THEY WON’T DISTURB THE CLASS.
· WE DON’T MIND NOISY CLASSES BUT WE ESPECIALLY LIKE IT WHEN THE STU-DENTS ARE THE ONES WHO ARE MAKING IT.
· PARENTS WHO ARE BRINGING IN SMALLER CHILDREN ARE ASKED TO PLEASE KEEP THEM IN CONTROL, SO THEY WON’T DISTURB OR DISTRACT THE CLASS.
· STUDENTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE IN A COMPLETE UNIFORM AND READY TO DO CLASS.
· NO SHOES, JEWELERY, GUM OR CANDY ON THE FLOOR. ONLY SPECIALIZED SHOES ARE TO BE WORN IN CLASS. ASK THE INSTRUCTORS ABOUT THOSE SHOES.
· THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO SHOULD BE ON THE FLOOR DURING CLASS ARE THE STUDENTS WHO ARE IN UNIFORM AND TRAINING.
· EVERY ONE SHOULD STAND DURING THE STUDENT CREED AND REMAIN QUIET DURING THE CREED.
· STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT IN CLASS SHOULD REMAIN QUIET DURING CLASS TO SHOW RESPECT.
· PARENTS MAKE SURE TO PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK AFTER CLASS FOR BRINGING IN YOUR CHILD. MAKE SURE TO FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE THINGS IN CLASS AND PRAISE THEM ON THAT EFFORT.
Everyone taps out!!!! Promise you will not be an exception. Tapping out prevents injury. Leave pride at the door and come to class and training to improve your skills. Tap quick Tap often. When you apply submissions use slow and steady pressure. Be able to come back to class and train tomorrow.
Respect student goals. Some of the students are here for fitness goals, some for self improvement and others to be professional fighters. Train to improve your skills and everyone your fellow classmates. If you want to be a competitor and or fighter we will have special practices for those students.
UNIFORMS AND GEAR

It also is a vital part of keeping the school growing and prosperous. If you have gear from somewhere else replace it with gear from the proshop. Be respectful to the other students, instructors and the academy. No exceptions.

Everyone knows that private lessons are available with pretty much every teacher, but most people don’t take them because they can be quite pricey. However, it’s not just a matter of money, it’s a matter of prioritization. Like with any expensive purchase, if you want it bad enough, you can find ways to afford it. This quick list is meant to help bump those of you that are indecisive about them, in the right direction to possibly invest in some private lessons. It doesn’t have to be weekly, it can even be once a month, but either way the benefits can be very useful.
1. You get an instructor’s full attention.
Sure, group classes are great because you get to train with all sorts of different people. However, with that benefit comes a major down side; a good teacher has to divide his time as fairly as possible between everyone in the class. So if you’re in a school full of 30-50 people per class, you’re going to have a hard time getting the most detail out of your professor. That’s why having his full attention in a private for 30 min to an hour is really valuable.
2. Learn as much deep detail as needed.
Another thing that’s great about private lessons is that you can take the time to dissect certain details that you would never have the chance to really get into in regular classes. As many people know, jiu-jitsu is all about detail, a slight angle change in any position can be a world of difference. So this is your chance to really get the details that your game has been missing.
3. Customizable help.
Usually, in regular classes, your professor does not take individual questions – there is a program that is followed and everyone sticks to it, and sure, you can ask your professor questions about what he is demonstrating, but you won’t have the chance to really look into your own game. In a private lesson, it’s all about you. You can write down a list of things that have been frustrating you and you can really work out those personal techniques you’ve been thinking about.
4. Get rolling time with your professor.
Another benefit of getting undivided attention is that you can get to roll with your teacher during your private lesson. A lot of teachers like to roll with their students during the regular group classes, however, in larger classes it will almost be impossible for the instructor to really get a chance to be with everyone. A private lesson will guarantee time where you can test yourself against your teacher and have him/her analyze your game better by feeling you roll.
5. Time flexibility.
Do you have a scattered work schedule? Can’t make it to as many classes as you’d like because of it? Well, a private lesson can be booked when it’s convenient for both you and your professor. Even if your professor has a tight schedule, your options are still better – you can book an extra quality training session whenever possible.
